The Whitlock Cordage Complex of eight historic 19th and 20th century buildings was acquired by the Housing Trust of America for renovation and restoration. The site is positioned in a redevelopment area along the Morris Canal and is adjacent to a community park. These surrounding amenities coupled with the historic significance of the buildings triggered an adaptive re-use of this site to become a unique residential cluster.

Stone Hill Design Associates was retained to examine the restoration of the landscape and the variety of features that would accompany such a property. A combination of contemporary industrial style lighting, iron fence & gates, paving materials, and site furniture serve to compliment the architecture and create livable spaces with a strong identity. Many of the items are reminiscent of the history and character of the factory buildings in their day.
