Dementia Garden

Stone Hill Design Associates, Inc. developed Design and Construction Documents for this 700-bed Nursing Facility located in the mountains of West Virginia. Constructed under the auspices of the West Virginia division of Veteran's Affairs, this facility houses Veterans with long-term mental and physical injuries.

The landscape design includes parking and vehicular circulation, entry signage, screening, outdoor terraces and shade structures, orchard plantings, a physical therapy courtyard and a dementia garden. Lighting and decorative pots were coordinated with the landscape and architectural design and a Planting Plan and Plant List was submitted for the entire property. All outdoor elements were designed to promote barrier free access, interactive gardens and sensory stimulus for patients and staff alike.
