River Quarry

River Quarry will be an intimate cluster of townhouses and single-family homes on an active quarry site just outside of Washington, D.C. The client, MTR Land, Inc. asked Stone Hill Design Associates to create a signature entrance, a pleasant interior setting for the homes, and a system of open spaces accessible by all residents of the community. The various amenities were designed to embellish the setting of the architecture, add amenities within the difficult topographic features on site, and add a quality of space and living within the neighborhood. Stone Hill Design produced renderings, section studies, and details for all landscape elements proposed for the development.

Natural stone from the quarry is anticipated for use in the construction of many pieces of the project. Natural stone outcroppings and water features will be the centerpiece of the main open space. Gardens, walkways, and retaining walls serve to link the open space to all points of the property.
