Stone Hill Design Associates, Inc.
was asked to assist the town of Charlotte Court House with the
landscape design of their Historic District, which included historic
gardens, foundation plantings, screening, and streetscape. The cluster of
buildings include a series of 19th Century brick structures in the classic
Jeffersonian style. A Court House, the old County Jail, the County Records
Office, and Clerk’s Office all hold unique historic significance. A collaborative effort with the community leaders assisted Stone Hill Design in developing concept sketches that showed the re-establishment of formal gardens in the Common Area. Research of Historic garden forms and materials was conducted and this information was incorporated into the plans. Site furnishings, simple plantings, and a Garden House were presented to the Town Council and Mayor for approval. Construction Documents, including a planting plan and plant list, were developed for implementation of the design. |
